I’ve spent the last 2.5 years working alongside neighbors to improve San Francisco - let’s keep up the positive momentum!

During the 2020 election cycle, many of you got to know me and what I stand for, both personally and professionally. In summary, I believe in:

  • Sanity in government

  • Balanced leadership

  • Caring for our most vulnerable

  • Government accountability

  • Not wasting taxpayer dollars

  • Quality education for all

  • Detailed oversight and tight management of CCSF to turn around the unchecked failures of the last decade

  • Creative partnerships and funding streams that provide mutual benefits to CCSF, students and faculty, while also providing a pathway to employment

What have I been up to since the 2020 election?

  • I officially left my career to devote myself full-time to fighting for San Francisco

  • Building SOAR-D1 into an thriving, active community engagement machine to demand better governance in SF; hosting regular events to educate, motivate and help neighbors be active political participants in meaningful and effective ways, without taking too much time out of their busy lives.

  • Georgetown University Regent, executive committee: Gold-Standard leadership of a top academic institution

  • Intensely engaged with individuals throughout SF who want better governance and are establishing their own neighborhood groups to make political participation effective and efficient

  • Led community mobilization to fight the far left domination of redistricting for the first time in 2 decades.  We pushed back on 20 years of extreme and illegal gerrymandering, demanded fair and legal maps and succeeded.

  • Mobilized the community and led the fight against four egregious charter amendment proposals for the June ballot, killed two in committee and a 3rd (Peskin’s anti-voter recall Prop C) at the polls.

  • Steering Committee for DA recall

    • Fundraiser

    • Strategic input

    • Advocate

    • On the ground volunteer collecting signatures, promoting engagement, campaigning

  • Advocated for Brooke Jenkins as new DA

  • Passionate activist, speaker, protester, rally participant: Justice for Victims, Stop Asian Hate, Anti-Asian Hate, High-quality Education, Re-Opening Schools, Ending Open-Air Drug Markets, Anti-Fentanyl, Recall Chesa Boudin

Marie ran in 2020 because CCSF auditors raised alarm over 3 years of financial mismanagement and questioned whether CCSF could remain in business. CCSF continues to struggle, still running at a deficit despite massive lay-offs; so Marie is offering to help again. Let’s stop electing politicians who view CCSF (or BOE) as a stepping stone and start electing thoughtful, experienced leaders. It is that simple.

Education transforms lives. San Franciscans deserve an experienced and tenacious voice fighting for the best and most relevant education at CCSF. Marie is that voice.  CCSF will benefit from Marie’s integrity, creativity, knowledge of best-practices and top university experience:

  • Nine years on Georgetown University Board of Regents.

  • More than 24 years of Board service and volunteerism at a variety of academic institutions.

  • Successfully piloted innovative programming at university level.

  • Has personally raised over $42 million for education, arts and health.

  • Chair, Presidio Trust Board (2021).

  • Vice Chair, Presidio Trust Board (2019 - 2021).

  • Founding Team SOAR-D1, leading charge to bring reason and rational problem solving back to San Francisco.

CCSF has a $300,000,000 annual budget - it desperately needs Marie’s expertise . . . and as importantly, her independence.

A hallmark of good governance is a board with independent directors. Public companies are required to have a majority of outside/ independent board members . . .

CCSF is just as deserving of the best possible governance.

Marie declines ALL OFFERS Of consideration for ENDORSEMENT by stakeholders so that CCSF will benefit from Marie’s solid experience and her stalwart independence.
